Asia Pacific Basketball is the progression from Kinder Bounce, for young players who wish to continue to develop their basketball skills and understanding.

Our sessions follow a technical curriculum in line with other Asia Pacific Sports programs. Like all our programs APB blends fun with learning and our experienced and qualified basketball coaches pass on their technical knowledge to the children learning through play and game related practices.

OUR TECHNICAL CURRICULUM

TOPICWHY? …
DefendingThe opposition have the ball, so we need to learn how to regain possession. Players need to use positioning (stand like crab and shadow with hands), contesting, boxing out, rebounding, and good footwork.
PassingHaving won the ball can we pass the ball quickly up the court and find an outlet to catch the opposition on the transition. Introduce overhead, bounce, chest and side passes.
ReceivingPlayers need to learn how to create space to receive the pass (Move without the ball). The player obtaining the ball needs to be comfortable catching the ball to keep possession. The ability to pivot is key.
DribblingHaving assessed the ball, dribbling to penetrate or drive in is the next best option. The player needs to be comfortable dribbling the ball up the court and in engaging a defender 1v1 situation. Players need to be comfortable with both hands, push don’t slap the ball, have eyes up and be able to protect the ball while the other hand stays up to protect the ball.
ScoringHaving successfully kept possession of the ball using the above techniques at some point an opportunity to finish the play should present itself. Players choose the most appropriate option out of a triple threat position and use good footwork and offensive basketball fundamentals to score points.
